Kaneohe Sandbar Tour
The holy grail of eFoiling on Oahu, is a eFoil tour to the Kaneohe sandbar. The best location to leave from is the He’eia Kea Boat Harbor, then its a 1.3mile easy run to the main part of the sandbar, where you can park up and chill for a minute in this beautiful spot, except for on king tides, where the water gets over waist deep. The water behind the sand bar is super smooth, flat and amazing for eFoiling and offers some sublime photo opportunities . This is especially true around low tide as the predominant trades blow NE across the sandbar.
Most people just stay and enjoy the sandbar, where you get great conditions for foiling with beautiful colors for photos and can chill on the sandbar a bit if you get tired. If your feeling adventurous you can continue up to Chinaman’s hat, at a round trip of around 11 miles. If you plan of completing this mission keep an eye on your battery levels as you need to ride smoothly and efficiently to do the round trip on your battery allowing a bit of spare capacity. Ke'ehi Lagoon Exploration tour
The Ke’ehi Lagoon is an underexplored gem on Oahu. Its large size and many channels and islands create a unique playground with plenty of butter smooth water for foiling. There are a couple of islands to pull up on and relax at, and then you can park up near the end of the runway and watch some planes take off, sometimes you get the air force jets going through, and those F22 Raptors sure are a spectacle!
If your feeling confident and your foiling ability is Jedi level, there are waves outside Kihei lagoon that can be eFoiled. For this you need a south swell- which really only occurs April – November, and then only a couple of times per week, keep your eye on the Waikiki surf forecast. Riding waves on eFoil’s takes your A-game, safety leashes, correct equipment and a person running safety on another eFoil.
